View of Rahman Shokoufehpour’s life,

His father was in the army and his mother was passionate and caring, she became a poet despite not being able to read or to write.

He has two brothers named Asghar and Ahmad both brothers were involve with art.

His older brother Asghar had a special place in literature and poetry. His poetry was set in any devoted listener‘s heart. He was the one who gave the initial investment to Rahman and he supported him in every possible way. Rahman always remembered him this way.

Citation:

Actually I learned the alphabet of poetry from my brother Asghar and that was which I became familiar with tune and rhyme for the first time. I became excited when I saw how he was supported and honored by elder and educated people in our town. I have to mention that I got a little jealous of him and his position and I wanted to learn whatever he knew.

The other brother named Ahmad was famous in another area of art in Hamadan and every time there was a new play in theatre, his name was mentioned on top of all others. Due to his humanity, kindness and patient personality, he was honored and loved by art and poetry admirers in the area. In his free time he attended official and non-official literature meetings and friendly poetry gathering, that was only him who was reading with ultimate beauty and in full control with concern of all right structure and meaning of his poetry friends. We will talk about Asghar and Ahmad and their children later in another section, which every one of them have a capability in art in Iran these days.

Since his childhood He became familiar with poetry of “Sa’dee” and “Hafez” and due to his mother’s wishes there wasn’t any night without reading the poems of “Khajeh Shirazi”.

Being well known with “Hafez” poems and growing up beside a mother who was passionate about poetry and having brothers like Asghar and Ahmad cause him to move to traditional and modern literature until he started to write poetry too.

The talents for music and good singing voice were hereditarily in this family. Beside poetry he started to learn and cherish music since his childhood, and every day his interest got stronger until he was singing in friendly and unofficial gathering and these singings helped him to learn about music and all details of it.

That was in those years when his family moved to Tehran and he got introduced to open environment with more opportunities and closer interactions with the world of music-art. In that time every year in the high schools of Tehran and other cities were campaigned different artistic competitions among students which were judged by a top artists committee in town and county levels and after been chosen, they were introduced to country competitions and sent to camp Ramsar. During four years Rahman won awards in poetry and Iranian music in hometown and county in many occasions. He arranged music and theatre for high schools, which were chosen among high school students artist. He always had thirst for learning and that caused him to be introduced and became close friend to Taghi Bohlooli who get married to Rahman’s younger sister later on and motivated him to learn script writing and painting.

Rahman states:

If I followed painting in more serious way by existence of someone like Taghi, may be today I would have been more successful in painting than writing poetry. Seriously, Taghi was talented with color and painting.

Being a member of Tehran southern youth palace was a remarkable help to grow up and provided him towards opportunities to get introduced to people who are famous and well respected these days inside and apart from country in the movie and music industry, especially suggestions and experiences he got from the famous and reverenced artist Mr. Milad Kiyaee from our country which he never forgot or ever forget. While that time he experienced writing poems and music notes, which was played live in the presence of country artists in official Southern Youth Palaces. Steady he was known by his outside and professional surrounding and it didn't take long which he started to write melody for songs:

Rahman states:

Getting introduced to good artist like Mr. Saeed Mahnaviyan opened a road to the world of professional music to me and I should say, I never forgot the suggestions and help of famous artists like Mr. Aref Ebrahimpoor, Professor Parviz Atabaki and - rest in peace - Saber Atashin.

His works were not many, but whatever was read from him got attention from music professionals, music fans and ordinary people. According to his statement the reason of writing few works was only because of the special request and subject by singer in that period of time, which was, contradict of what he had in his mind. It is better to look in another view from him about this.

I had a lot interest on Mr. Iraj Jonati Attaii’s works, especially the works in co-operation with - rest in peace - “Varoozan”. I always wanted to follow someone like Iraj Jonati Attaii footsteps or at least some day I could repay what I owe to my people in that kind of art.

He wasn’t and isn’t only a songwriter, actually he is a hero with guts and unlike so many other artists in that period he insists quality instead of quantity and was dealing with honors. Differently worded, he didn’t think about only making money, that’s why whatever he wrote was written forever. But I could never be like the way he was. I wish I had the knowledge I have now then, so I wouldn’t be regretting one or two of my previous works. Another interesting subject which I liked to mention, was the question I was been asked by most of my friends or family that was my singing as a professional singer, I should say that in reality my singing or as my friends said my pleasant voice was the instrument which introduced me to the world of professional song writing but I never used that as a professional or I thought about it too late which was not understandable by curious friends, even so I was the one who helped many singers to become famous. I never used my talent for my own value, although in that time singing was much more admired and don’t forget about the wages which were much better than writing a song for a melody.

In those years Rahman went together with Mr. Aref and Manoochehr Salahshoor to the studio “Barbad”, where they established a work-office, due to the request and insistence of friends especially a friend named Kamkar who was a sensible admirer of arts. There a song, melody created by Mr. Ghasem Raeis Nejad and poem written by Rahman named “Parastoo”, was performed and this was in company of musician like Mr. Farhad Besharati, good player of the instrument “Ghanoon” and Mr. Hesan Darooki player of the instrument “chalice-shaped tabour drum”.

But since he never thought about professional singing in a serious way, only his closest friends have hearted this song and essentially it was a gift from Rahman to his friend Kamkar. Later on after passing Kamkars, this song became public and opened even more a special place among friends but it never been introduced to the ordinary public. During that time Rahman became acquainted with the great human and big-hearted successful famous artist Mr. Jahanbakhsh Pazooki who motivated and provided Rahman with a lot of encouragement and enthusiasm. One of his creations named “Payam” was performed by company of Mr. Hasan Shamaei zadeh and was played in radio many times.

Downtime for work in those years cause him to write stories and poems until in right timing gathered everything as a book and offered it to literature admirer, which in the whole war time he never got the chance to do so and during that, he worked as illustrator on few publications. In the end of war, he decided to abroad and left to another country and settled in Denmark. Even so he was far away from Los Angles, which was the main environment for art and music activities for Iranian outside of Iran, his successful work in the past helped him again to create new things with fresh views and more experienced and got it ready for performance. First result of being away from his country was the song named “Baran” sang by Omid, a singer with charming voice, with which he got a special popular place among people.

“Baran” did the same thing like “Mast - Oona keh to zendigishoon ghesehayeh khoob shenidan” which was performed with a great voice by Moein few years back. This Time he started to create with a newer view, open and fresh mind that caused younger artist wanted to perform his songs.

He created “Naghsh” and “Rozegar” for Pouya, “Zan”, “Ghebleh “ and “Safar” for Aris, “Khooneh” for Shahyad, “Albumeh Aks” for Nima and other work for Fereshteh, Mersedeh, Foroohar, Ramin, Misagh and much more famous Iranian artists. As far in these days he published his stories and writings in farsi-languaged art & culture publications (for example “Harmonica”). But his unfinished book was always in his mind, which fortunately this was done too, and this book named “Dokhtareh Mahtab” (“Mahtab’s Daughter”), which is also the name of Rahman’s Internet homepage, will be published and distributed by a big and famous publishing house (“Moaseseh Entesharateh Negah”) before the New Years Eve “Norooz” 1383. After publishing this book (Gathered Poems) he is thinking about gathering his stories and songs and will also published them for the publicity.

At last Rahman states:

Most of my friends including dear Omit and my dearest Aris gave me the name love song neoterist which was strange because in their eyes I was a great one but I always feel the empty place of love in my heart. That is may be the reason, which I could talk about love better, it is like being thirsty with the ultimate wish getting to a clear spring and describing even one drop of clear water is even more comforting and ripped to the heart.
